Auburn University

Auburn University is a public, land grant, four-year university. Located in the heart of Auburn, Alabama, the university is home to over 31,000 students. I began my education in Auburn in the Fall of 2022 after transferring to the university during my Junior year. I transferred to the university as a nursing major, but I realized that nursing was not the major for me. I switched majors to Human Development Family Science with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. The Early Learning Center, where I do my lab hours for my concentration, is NAYEC certified.  Changing my major was a daunting task as a Spring semester Junior, but I have been able to take 17+ hours the past two semesters and work part-time, all while maintaining a 3.77 major GPA. Before starting my junior year at Auburn, I had never set foot on the campus. I came to the university sight unseen. Almost two years later, I regret nothing. Transferring to Auburn was the best choice I have ever made. Auburn's creed speaks about the importance of hard work and education. Auburn has taught me the skills to be a hard worker and to value the education I receive at this institution. As the Auburn Creed says, "I believe in Auburn and I love it!".

Throughout my educational history, I have been fortunate to take a variety of classes, most of them either focused on Human Development and Family Science or Nursing-related classes. Human Development and Family Science is the understanding of each stage of life and all of the developmental stages and theories associated with each stage of life. Using the knowledge found from the theories and stages, we as HDFS majors can interpret the information and use it to benefit people and advocate for their best quality of life. HDFS is all about helping out other people to ensure that they are getting the best quality of life and are the happiest and most successful that they can be. HDFS can be applied and used in so many different fields and settings. In all, HDFS is all about helping out people and encouraging them to be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
