Amelia Estes
Convent High School
I attended Convent High School from August 2015 to May 2019. Convent was an all-girls high school and I graduated with a class of 52 other women. I took both AP and IB Higher Level courses throughout my 4 years there. I participated in a variety of clubs and sports, including three varsity sports. Going to an all-girls school was a very formative experience and it allowed me to find my own voice and become a lot more confident in speaking my own opinion. During my sophmore and junior year, I was fortunate enough to participate in two exchange programs to other Sacred Heart Schools.
During my time at Convent, I was a member of the volleyball team for all four years. I was on JV for two years and varsity for two years. My senior year, we won the North Coast Section championship. This was such a formative experience and taught me the importance of relying on your team.
I was also fortunate enough to be a part of varsity soccer for four years and the lacrosse team for one year. Joining these teams allowed me to build relationships with girls I may not have known outside of the sport. I was captain of the varsity soccer team my senior year which allowed me to gain confidence in my leadership abilities.
Exchange Program
Academy of the Sacred Heart
In my junior year, I was able to go to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana. I spent time with another junior and was able to spend time in the lower school during my free time. I spent time in the 2's and 3's classrooms and also work at a construction site with girls from a Sacred Heart school in New York. I was able to experience a Sacred Heart tradition while on exchange and participate in rally day.
Stoneridge Academy
My sophomore year I was fortunate enough to go on an exchange to Stoneridge Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Maryland. I spent time living with another sophomore girl and attending classes at this school. I would participate in workouts and sports outside of class and during our free time, we would go sightseeing in Washington DC.
