Get to Know Amelia

My professional goal to become an Elementary School Teacher has always been a dream of mine because all throughout high school and my years in college, I knew I loved working with kids and spending time with them. I worked as a camp counselor at CYO Camp, the summer camp that I went to growing up, following high school graduation. For the following 3 years after, I worked as an Assistant Teacher in Colorado and I spent a summer there working to complete my HDFS internship. I knew that I wanted to major in something that aligned with my goals of working with children and their families, so majoring in Human Development and Family Science with a concentration in Early Childhood Development was the clear choice for me to help me understand the development of young children and how I can best support the development of young children.

Coming to Auburn from San Francisco, California as a transfer student was a daunting challenge, but I have grown to love Auburn and consider it my second home. I love everything Auburn stands for and all its traditions and am so thankful to be a part of such an amazing community.

Some of the most formative and rewarding experiences I have been fortunate enough to have were working with children and sharing these special memories with them that will last both of us a lifetime. I hope that by reading this E-Portfolio you will be able to understand just how special working with children is to me and how I am working towards reaching my goal of becoming a Early Childhood Teacher.
